Therapy Plus Foundation

Expanding Access. Advancing Equity. Empowering Families.

About Our Founder

LeJeune Johnson, LCSW-S, PMH-C, is the Executive Director and visionary force behind Therapy Plus Foundation, established in 2025 to advance her lifelong commitment to reducing health disparities and improving access to quality, culturally responsive care. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience, LeJeune has dedicated her career to uplifting marginalized communities—particularly in the areas of mental health, maternal health, and family wellness.

Clinically trained in perinatal mental health, she holds certification from Postpartum Support International (PMH-C), equipping her to provide expert care and consultation around the emotional complexities of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences. She also holds academic training in trauma-informed care, having earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma Informed Practice from Mississippi College in 2017. These specialized credentials reflect her deep commitment to evidence-based, holistic approaches in supporting families through trauma, transition, and healing.

Her work spans multiple systems, including pivotal roles with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where she provided trauma-informed care to veterans; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she serves as a national consultant and trainer supporting state teams in launching maternal mortality informant interview programs; and the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services, where she championed initiatives to protect vulnerable children and support families in crisis.

LeJeune also served at the Mississippi State Department of Health, helping build infrastructure for perinatal health and maternal mortality review efforts. She currently supports the Louisiana Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (PAMR) Committee as a qualitative expert, working to amplify the lived experiences of families affected by maternal loss and near-miss events.

Through Therapy Plus Foundation, LeJeune blends her clinical expertise with public health innovation, launching programs that integrate mental health support with social determinants of health. She is deeply committed to building systems of care that are rooted in compassion, informed by community voices, and driven by a vision of equity and healing for all.

What We Do

01.

We Find & Fund

Therapy Plus Foundation is dedicated to identifying and investing in innovative solutions that advance the mental health and overall wellness of mothers and families. We actively seek funding opportunities focused on improving wellness and mental health outcomes, especially in communities where disparities persist. Through these investments, we provide vital supports such as Maternal Mental Health Screenings and Referrals, enabling early identification of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and ensuring mothers are connected to culturally responsive mental health and wellness services. We also pursue funding that addresses both the clinical and social dimensions of health, supporting new strategies to close wellness gaps and enhance outcomes for mothers, infants, and families.

02.

We Build Networks

We foster supportive networks that empower mothers and families to thrive mentally, physically, and emotionally. Through our Perinatal and Postpartum Peer Support Groups, we provide safe spaces for mothers to connect, share their journeys, and access vital wellness resources. Our Parenting Education and Family Wellness Workshops bring families together to strengthen parenting skills, manage stress, and promote holistic wellness, addressing social determinants that impact mental and physical health. Our Community Resource Navigation helps families overcome barriers by linking them to critical resources—such as housing, childcare, nutrition, and healthcare—essential for sustained wellness.

03.

We Strengthen

We work to strengthen families, communities, and systems to achieve lasting wellness and mental health equity. Our Advocacy for Equitable Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes involves partnering with organizations and stakeholders to advance policies and practices that promote wellness and reduce health disparities. Through our Whole Mama, Whole Family Initiative, we center the lived experiences of families affected by maternal health challenges, elevating their stories to guide prevention efforts and systemic change. We also provide expert consultation and training to organizations on integrating informant interviews and building robust systems for maternal health and wellness review.

04.

We Educate

Education is at the heart of our mission to improve maternal wellness and mental health. We lead Mental Health and Maternal Wellness Awareness Campaigns that challenge stigma, encourage early intervention, and highlight the value of culturally responsive care. Our Community-Based Wellness Events and Health Fairs offer education, free health and mental health screenings, and direct connections to community resources—empowering families to take charge of their overall well-being. We also deliver Professional Trainings and Capacity-Building workshops, equipping providers and organizations with tools for trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and holistic care.
